Community Involvement
McMahon-Chapman Financial Group is very proud of their commitment to give back to the community in which they live.
Their commitment is demonstrated through various charitable donations as well as their involvement in the planning and organizing of fundraising events.
McMahon-Chapman is the title sponsor for 40th annual "The Burgoyne Community Living Golf Tournament". This annual event, initiated in 1972 provides funds for the benefit of people who have an intellectual disability and live in our community.
Derek Chapman and Bill Morrison are also Board members of the Community Leaders.
The Community Leaders began as a group of community minded business men, led by Obie O’Brien and Archie Katzman as the first set of Co-Chairs, organized and established the Fred Stanfield Invitational Golf Tournament Since its inception in 1973, the Community Leaders Men’s Invitational has undergone a number of changes to meet the constantly changing needs of the healthcare community in Niagara.
From name changes to sponsorship and partnership alliances; the Community Leaders continues to lead the way towards the achievement of the same goal it did 34 years ago: The betterment of healthcare in Niagara.
For 40 years the Community Leaders have led the way and we look forward to their constantly new and innovative ways of raising much needed funds for the betterment of Healthcare in Niagara
Derek Chapman, became a board member in 1993, focusing on expanding the Leaders reach and involvement in the community.
In 2007, with the aim to help the community and healthcare the “First Forty Invitational” was conceived from an idea from a group in Burlington who were raising funds for their own hospital facility.
In early 2008 Derek and his team began this very worthwhile undertaking.
The purpose was to develop a high end golfing experience that offered business and professional men to meet, play golf, network and make a significant contribution to our new hospital.
It was decided that there would be a maximum of 40 golfers and thus it was named the First Forty Invitational. The inaugural event raised over $60,000 and the second annual event managed to raise $45,000, all of which goes towards Healthcare Niagara!
